Avendo fatto un giro al Salone del Mobile, dopo essere passati da Euroluce, certo non potevamo perderci il Salone Satellite. Fa parte del Salone del Mobile ma si comporta come una cosa a parte, una piccola area gratuita per poter dare spazio e visibilità a designer giovani, freschi, pieni di iniziativa e con tante idee. Come al solito le idee sono state tante e una più bella dell’altra. Ma facciamo un piccolo resoconto di ciò che abbiamo trovato più interessante, bello e accattivante.

Having done a stroll through the Furniture Expo, after having passed through Euroluce, certainly we cannot miss the Satellite Expo. It makes up part of the Furniture Expo but behaves like something separate, a small free area to give space and visibility to young designers, fresh, full of potential and with lots of ideas. Like usual, the ideas are many and some are better than others. But we will do a small report of what we have found most interesting, beautiful and endearing.

Questa è la Erosion Lamp, una manifestazione a parete di uno dei fenomeni più interessanti della natura, l’erosione. Una cosa che sappiamo accade in ogni momento, ma è cosi lenta e inesorabile che ci sfugge, e quindi non possiamo godere appieno della sua magia. Cyryl ZakreWski è il designer per NOWYMODEL, che ha creato un’intera collezione su questo tema; ripropone, usando il legno, l’effetto dell’inesorabile cambiamento che ogni materia organica e inorganica subisce col passare del tempo. Una lampada da parete o soffitto, una sedia che simula l’erosione data da chi la usa, e una collezione di mensole, questa è Erosion by Cyryl Zakrewski.

This is the Erosion Lamp, a wall manifestation of one of the most interesting natural phenomenons, erosion. One thing that we know happens all the time, but is so slow and inexorable that it escapes us, and so we cannot fully enjoy its magic. Cyryl ZakreWski is the designer for NOWYMODEL, has created an entire collection on this theme; it repeats, using wood, the effect of inexorable change that every organic and inorganic material undergoes with the passage of time. A wall or ceiling lamp, a chair that simulates erosion given by the user, and a collection of shelves, this is Erosion by Cyryl Zakrewski.

Abbiamo poi rallentato passando davanti allo stand di Fromhence, incantati da una coltre di lampade da soffitto bulbose che, al posto di avere una lampadina comune, o una gabbia in vetro in cui metterne una, hanno una goccia, altro modo di descriverla non c’è, che sembra essere veramente acqua, come raccolta da un fiore appesantito dalla rugiada. Questa magia si chiama Misty Forest by Fromhence.

Then we slowed down passing in front of Fromhence’s stand, enchanted by a cover of bulbose ceiling lamps that, instead of having a common light bulb, or a glass cage in which to put one, there is a drop, there is no other way to describe it, that seems to truly be water, like that collected from a flower weighed down by dew. This magic is called Misty Forest by Fromhence.

Un altro oggetto curioso, ma dal design tagliente, che ci ha colpiti è stato questo tavolino, o set componibile di tavolini, progettato dal designer Olivier Vitry di Claisse Architectures. Smontato, si presenta come superficie circolare, gambe e tasselli, questi ultimi sono la parte interessante,e ci danno una doppia possibilità; essendo tagliati con una macchina che lavora con il 3D, sono molto precisi ed estremamente facili da incastrare, fatti in marmo, alluminio o sughero. Con il tassello singolo possiamo creare il nostro tipico tavolino da te, basso o alto che sia, con il tassello doppio possiamo accostare due tavolini di altezze diverse facendo coincidere una delle gambe e aggiungendo una piccola “prolunga” della gamba in condivisione.

Another curious object, but with sharp design, that impressed us was this small table, or modular table set, designed by Olivier Vitry of Claisse Architectures. Dismantled, it appears as a circular surface, legs and plugs, these last ones are the most interesting part, and give us a double possibility; being cut with a machine that works with 3D, they are precisely and extremely easy to fit, made in marble, aluminum and cork. With one single piece we can create our typical tea table, short or tall, we can connect two small tables of different heights with the same gusset, matching up one of the legs and adding a small “extension” to the shared leg.

L’ultima curiosità , un po’ simpatica e fuori dalle righe, come tutto il salone satellite, è questo Monstrouswall, progettata da Ayrton Miranda assieme al suo gruppo di designer. Si tratta di due pareti divisorie, una più ampia e liscia e una piu piccola e un po più artistica, che hanno doppia funzione. Se tenute con tutti i pezzi al loro posto allora si, sono pareti divisorie o decorative, la scelta poi alla fine è nostra, ma se le smontiamo e assembliamo di nuovo, ma mischiando i pezzi, possiamo tirarne fuori un intero soggiorno! La faccia mostruosa sul pannello ampio disegna i margini delle superfici, mentre gli “aghi” che escono dal secondo pannello più piccolo diventano le gambe degli eventuali tavoli, tavolini o sedie, a seconda delle necessità, come Ayrton ha voluto prontamente dimostrarci. Un’idea simpatica, bella, curiosa e interattiva, che chiude la nostra esperienza al Salone Satellite 2019 lasciandoci tornare a casa con un sorriso sul volto, o forse un ghigno mostruoso.

The last curiosity, a little delightful and outside of the box, like all in the satellite expo, is this Monstrouswall, designed by Ayrton Miranda together with their group of designers. It deals with two partition walls, one wider and smoother and one smaller and a little bit artistic, that has a double function. If kept with all of the pieces in their place then yes, they are partition walls or decorative, the choice then in the end is ours, but if we dismantle them and assemble them again, but mixing the pieces, we can take out an entire living room! The monstrous face on the wide panel is where we draw the surfaces from, while the “needles” that come out of the second smaller panel become the legs of the future tables, small tables, or chairs, the second you need them, like Ayrton promptly wanted to demonstrate to us.

A nice, beautiful, interesting and interactive idea, that closes our experience of the Satellite Expo 2019 leaving us to return home with a smile on our face, or maybe a monstrous grin.
