Un Dammuso è una struttura tipica di Pantelleria, strutture studiate dai contadini di un tempo per poter trarre il massimo confort da questa area in cui battono un gran sole e un grande vento. Sono costruzioni molto lontane da ciò a cui siamo abituati, con mura spesse fino a 1.40 metri per combattere caldo estivo e freddo invernale, con tetti a cupola per convogliare le scarse acque piovane in cisterne per poi poterle utilizzare, con frutteti racchiusi da mura per evitare che vengano battuti dal vento rovinando il raccolto, e senza porte interne, come un lungo susseguirsi di corridoi e alcove. Ovviamente un po’ di confort è stato aggiunto per poter attrarre visitatori da tutto il mondo, come ad esempio la piscina, che sicuramente i contadini non avevano, ma che adesso si integra benissimo con il suo look da spiaggia che la fa sembrare quasi naturale. Gli interni sono sempre freschi, grazie alle mura spesse e alle finestre piccole, e l’arredamento è tipico della zona e del tempo. Troviamo tessuti nuovi, ma con un look antico, accostati a mobili del tempo come ad esempio i letti, con grandi strutture in legno lavorate o ricavati direttamente dalla pietra utilizzata per la costruzione. Per una vacanza fuori dagli schemi, per riconnettersi con la natura ed il territorio, e per scoprire il piccolo esploratore che c’è in ognuno di noi. Una vacanza che sicuramente non vorremo mai smettere di raccontare agli amici una volta tornati in città col nostro spritz o il calice di vino sotto l’aria condizionata. A Dammuso is a typical structure of Pantelleria, structures designed by farmers of the past to be able to get the maximum comfort in this area where the sun beats down and wind blows. They are constructed very differently from what we are used to, with walls often up to 1.40 meters thick to combat summer heat and winter cold, with domed roofs to convey the scarce rainwater into cisterns and then be able to use it, with orchards enclosed by walls to prevent them from being beaten by the wind and ruining the harvest, and without internal doors, like a long succession of corridors and alcoves. Obviously a little bit of comfort has been added to be able to attract visitors from all over the world, like for example the pool, that surely the farmers did not have, but that now integrates well with the beach look that seems almost natural. The interiors are always cool, thanks to the thick walls and small windows, and the furnishing is typical of the area and time. We find new fabrics, but with an ancient look, juxtaposed with period furniture such as the beds, with large wooden structures worked or obtained directly from the stone used for the construction. For an outside the box vacation, to reconnect with nature and the region, and to discover the little explorer that’s in each one of us. A vacation that we definitely will never want to stop telling our friends about once returning to the city with our spritz or glass of wine in air conditioning.
