Le atmosfere deco di questa grande casa nel lussuoso quartiere di Notting Hill, a Londra, ci stupiscono soprattutto nel modo in cui si coniugano con spazi altrimenti più moderni e attuali; grande spazio è lasciato alle forme sinuose di grandi specchi ma anche divani e poltrone, a scintillanti e importanti lampadari, ai fastosi caminetti, a un largo uso di marmo di vari colori e venature, e all’innegabile presenza di oro e ottone. Altri mobili dello stesso periodo, come sedie decisamente art déco o ancora una deliziosa e slanciata cassettiera in soggiorno, fanno da contraltare a linee più severe e moderne di tavolo e sedie nella sala da pranzo o della modernissima cucina. Così anche nelle camere da letto troviamo al tempo stesso dettagli di quelle atmosfere deco (come abat-jour che pendono direttamente dal soffitto) e un letto e tavolini da notte dallo stile più contemporaneo. Da apprezzare anche gli stucchi delle pareti e il bel parquet in legno chiaro, drappeggi in velluto a delineare il confine tra gli spazi, o ancora la veranda da cui godere di piante esotiche e della vista sul giardino interno. Il piano interrato si affida invece ad atmosfere decisamente più seducenti con tinte più scure e il massiccio uso di cemento, marmo e legno per un mix che sorprende in positivo.

Other furniture of the same period, like decidedly art deco chairs or a delicious and slender chest of drawers in the living room, counterbalance the more severe and modern lines of the table and chairs in the dining room or in the very modern kitchen. So even in the bedrooms we find at the same time details of that deco atmosphere (like lamp shades that hang directly from the ceiling) and a bed and nightstands of more contemporary style. To appreciate, also the stucco of the walls and the beautiful parquet flooring in light wood, velvet drapes to delineate the boundary between the spaces, or even the veranda from which to enjoy the exotic plants and the view of the internal garden. The basement is entrusted instead to an atmosphere decidedly more seductive with darker tints and the massive use of cement, marble and wood for a mix that surprises us positively.
