Oggi il nostro giro del mondo ci fa approdare in Indonesia al Misool Eco Resort, un rifugio da sogno all’interno dell’arcipelago delle isole Raja Ampat. Costruito sull’Isola privata di Batbitim in mezzo al Triangolo dei Coralli, questo Hotel è circondato da sabbie candide e mari azzurri, habitat di 1500 diverse specie di pesci e del 75% delle specie di corallo conosciuti.

Di Hotel spettacolari in location spettacolari ce ne sono parecchi, ma questo luogo mi ha incantato. Soprattutto le sfumature del mare e l’intenso blu del cielo, per non parlare della vegetazione e la conformazione dell’insenatura dove è stato situato l’Hotel. Bellissime anche le stanze su palafitte con una grande piattaforma da dove si può osservare lo spettacolare panorama. Ma la cosa più stupefacente è che questo rifugio nasce dalla passione di Andrew Miners, che dopo aver visitato l’arcipelago  disabitato, incantato dalla sua bellezza è riuscito a creare una riserva naturale e un magnifico resort all’insegna del rispetto dell’ambiente e del territorio.

Le strutture sono costruite con legno riciclato acquistato direttamente in Indonesia  e nessun albero è stato abbattuto. I tetti intrecciati dalle popolazioni autoctone, seguendo la tradizione costruttiva della regione, sono fatti con una fibra vegetale chiamata “alang alang”. Un luogo speciale, lontano dalla civiltà dove non c’è alcun tipo di inquinamento né acustico, né luminoso, un luogo dove ritrovare la natura allo stato primordiale. Today our world tour brings us to Indonesia to Misool Eco Resort, a dreamy retreat within the archipelago of the Raja Ampat Islands. Built on the private island Batbitim, in the middle of the Coral Triangle, this Hotel is surrounded by white sands and blue seas, which are the habitats of 1500 different fish species and of 75% of known coral species.

As for spectacular hotels in spectacular places, there are several. But this location enchanted us—above all for the hues of the sea and the intense blue of the sky, not to mention the vegetation and the shape of the inlet where the hotel is located. The rooms in the stilt houses with large decks are also stunning, where you can take in the spectacular panoramic view. But the thing that we were most struck by was the fact that this place was brought to life by Andrew Miners’ passion, who after having visited this extraordinary, uninhabited archipelago and becoming fascinated by its beauty, managed to create a natural reserve and a magnificent resort dedicated to respecting the environment and the territory.

The structures are built of recycled wood purchased directly in Indonesia, and not a single tree was cut down. The roofs woven by the local people, following the region’s architectural tradition, are made of a vegetable fiber called “alang alang”.
