Philip Stark, autore del restyling di questo hotel, si è da subito innamorato della location, che lui stesso descrive come “… un luogo poetico, surreale e forte…”.  Un ex castello di caccia, risalente al 1930, sospeso tra cielo e mar, e situato nel punto più panoramico sopra il bacino di Arcachon, a Pyla sur Mer, vicino a Bordeaux. Qui, in questo luogo protetto, dove la natura offre viste incantevoli, nacque la “Costa d’argento”, in contrapposizione alla nostrana Costa Smeralda. E’ certamento il paesaggio a fare di questo Hotel un luogo da sogno, ma l’intervento che Stark ha riservato agli interni è interessante e, come nel suo stile, originale. La Terrazza, il Bar ed il Ristorante, sono stati completamente rivisti secondo uno stile moderno con molte concessioni al lusso. Parte degli interni sono invece stati mantenuti allo stato originale, con un più severo stile neo-basco, che tuttavia ben si inserisce con gli altri spazi più moderni e che soprattutto garantisce – come nell’intento dei proprietari – il permanere di quell’aura magica che caratterizza tutto l’edificio. Più moderne e leggere le camere, che con l’uso di materiali come il vetro e l’acciaio, e la profusione di bianco, regalano un’atmosfera fresca e rilassante.

Philip Stark, in charge of the restyling of this hotel, immediately fell in love with the location, which he describes as “… a poetic, surreal and strong place …”. A former hunting lodge, it was built in 1930, suspended between sky and sea, and located in the most scenic point above the basin of Arcachon, Pyla sur Mer, near Bordeaux. Here, in this protected place, where nature offers wonderful views, the “Silver Coast”was created, as opposed to our local Costa Smeralda. The landscape certainly makes this hotel a dreamland, but Stark’s intervention  has also given the interior an interesting and original style. The terrace, the bar and the restaurant, have been completely revised in a modern style with many concessions to luxury. Part of the interior have been kept in its original state, with a more severe neo-Basque style, which fits well with the other more modern spaces and above all guarantees – as was the owners’ intention – the persistence of a magical aura that characterizes the entire building. The rooms are more modern, which with the use of materials such as glass and steel, and the profusion of white, is refreshing and relaxing.
